Parker Ruth

I am an undergraduate researcher at the University of Washington in Seattle obtaining a double degree in computer engineering and bioengineering. As a member of the UbiComp Lab advised by Dr. Shwetak Patel, I explore applications of computing tools to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare. I have worked on repurposing smartphone sensors for detecting sleep apnea, estimating blood pressure, screening for osteoporosis, and quantifying physical activity. I am currently developing novel hardware and software technologies for continuous and non-invasive cardiovascular monitoring. I have the privilege of working closely with several outstanding clinical collaborators at UW Medicine.

Through research, courses, and independent projects, I have built skills in biosignal processing, embedded systems, circuit design, and fabrication. In fall of 2020 I will be applying to computer science PhD programs.
